What is BrunoAI and how does it differ from ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot?
BrunoAI is a proprietary, purpose-trained AI model, built and operated by fynoAI in Austria – not a wrapper around ChatGPT, Claude or Copilot, but a standalone system specialised for DACH business workflows.
Why Bruno is different from consumer AIs:
- Trained for business contexts: bookkeeping (SKR03/04, BMD, DATEV), invoicing and CRM logic, HR processes, trades and e-commerce.
- Learns your workspace: Bruno knows your projects, customers, invoices, calendar and documents – and gets more precise every day because it understands your business, not just generic knowledge.
- Reads large PDFs, too: drop a 1,000+ page document into fynoDrive and ask Bruno about it – contract, tender, technical manual – it finds the relevant passages and answers in context.

How does PII masking work at fynoAI?
PII masking (Personally Identifiable Information Masking) is an additional protection layer inside fynoAI – on top of the fact that BrunoAI already runs in our own EU infrastructure, so data never leaves the European legal zone anyway.
The flow on every AI request:
- fynoAI automatically detects personal data in the prompt.
- Each entity is replaced with a deterministic placeholder:
Max Mustermann→[PERSON_1],[email protected]→[EMAIL_1],ATU12345678→[UID_1]. - The anonymised prompt goes to Bruno.
- The answer comes back and fynoAI rehydrates the placeholders locally with the real values.
- The mapping stays exclusively in our EU storage (Frankfurt) and is scoped to the session.
Detected data types include:
- Names, email addresses, phone numbers
- IBAN, BIC, SEPA bank data
- Austrian and German VAT IDs, tax numbers
- Postal addresses, birth dates
- IP addresses, user agents
This fulfils GDPR under Art. 25 (Privacy by Design) and Art. 32 (appropriate technical measures) – and that's even before considering that no data is ever transmitted to external AI providers, because BrunoAI runs in our own EU infrastructure.

Where is my data stored?
All customer data is hosted exclusively in the European Union – specifically in certified data centres in Frankfurt, Germany.
- No data transfer to the US or other third countries.
- No US CLOUD Act: fynoAI is not subject to US jurisdiction.
- Backups stay inside the EU as well, encrypted, with 30 days retention.
- Temporary caches, logs and the PII mapping also stay physically on EU servers.
- Dedicated EU hosting available on request – isolated database cluster and separate key management for financial services, healthcare or public sector.
Is fynoAI GDPR-compliant?
Yes, fynoAI is built GDPR-compliant from the ground up – "GDPR by design", not an afterthought checklist.
- EU hosting in Frankfurt: no third-country transfer.
- Proprietary AI: BrunoAI runs in our EU infrastructure, your data never goes to external AI providers like OpenAI, Anthropic or Google.
- PII masking before any AI processing as additional defense-in-depth.
- Data Processing Agreement (DPA) under Art. 28 GDPR on request before contract signing.
- Data subject rights: access, rectification, erasure and data portability are honoured on request within statutory deadlines.
- Two-factor authentication available for every user.
- Deletion after contract end within 30 days, with a written deletion confirmation on request.
Which AI model powers BrunoAI? Do you use ChatGPT, Claude or Mistral?
No – BrunoAI is our own, purpose-trained AI model. We are not a wrapper around ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Mistral. We built BrunoAI from the ground up ourselves.
What Bruno was trained on:
- Bookkeeping under SKR03 and SKR04, Austrian and German chart of accounts
- BMD and DATEV export formats, invoice recognition and mapping
- Austrian and German VAT IDs, SEPA bank data, IBAN validation
- Invoicing logic (gross/net, VAT rates, discounts, dunning stages)
- CRM lead scoring and pipeline management

- Workspace setup (1–2 days after contract signing): admin account, user invitations, roles and permissions.

fynoAI is a per-user SaaS subscription. The price per user per month depends on three levers:
- Number of users (volume-based tiered pricing)
- Chosen modules and industry solutions (e.g. fynoCraft for trades)
- Support level (standard, business, enterprise with SLA)
We discuss concrete pricing individually in the demo call, because every constellation is different. We deliberately don't publish list prices that wouldn't fit most customers anyway.
Notice periods and contract duration are also agreed individually and depend on the chosen plan and commitment. There is no free tier.

Do I need Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 for mail and calendar?
No. fynoAI supports all common mail and calendar systems equally – you simply connect your existing mailbox, no need to switch providers.
Supported include:
- Mail: Gmail (OAuth), Microsoft 365 / Exchange (OAuth), any SMTP/IMAP server
- Calendar: Google Calendar, Microsoft 365 / Outlook, any CalDAV server
This flexibility is intentional: we want customers to be productive on fynoAI within days, not after months of email migration.
Can fynoAI replace Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace?
Yes. fynoAI is a full alternative to Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace – with the bonus that you also get the entire business layer that office suites don't cover.
What fynoAI replaces 1:1 compared to M365 / Workspace:
- Mail: connect any mailbox via SMTP/IMAP or OAuth – no Exchange or Gmail contract required.
- Calendar: native, CalDAV-compatible, team views included.
- Meetings: fynoMeet instead of Zoom or Google Meet.
- Chat: fynoChat instead of Teams – with Bruno right inside every channel.

- Data export before contract end – your data can be provided in a structured form on request so you can transition cleanly to another system.
- Final deletion within 30 days of contract end – production systems and backups.
- Written deletion confirmation under Art. 17 GDPR on request.
